Scholarship FAQs

 

Do I need to be enrolled to apply for a scholarship?

Yes.

 

Is there an application fee?

No, only the fee required for enrolment.

 

Where do I download the scholarship application forms from?

The forms can be downloaded from the QUICK LINKS box on the right hand side of this page.

 

Who can apply for a St Margaret’s scholarship?

Only New Zealand citizens can apply and receive a scholarship.

 

Can I apply for more than one scholarship?

Yes, however you can only receive one scholarship.

If you are applying for multiple scholarships, each application must be separate, each accompanied by a full set of supporting documentation. Scholarship applications sharing documentation will not be accepted.

 

How should I submit my application?

Scholarship applications can ONLY be submitted in hard copy. No electronic copies of applications will be accepted.

 

When are scholarship applications due?
Year 7 and 9 scholarships are usually due around mid May. Senior scholarships (Year 11, 12 & 13) are usually due late August. Please be aware these these dates may vary from year to year so be sure to keep an eye on the website for up to date information and specific application dates. If you are enrolled, we will ensure you are notified of the deadlines. Unfortunately, we cannot do this for un-enrolled students but all information will be on the web site.

 

What scholarships are available for Year 7 students?
Only academic scholarships. These are open to existing and new students.

 

What scholarships are available for Year 9 students?
Academic, performing arts, sports and boarding scholarship. These are open to existing and new students.

 

Who can apply for Senior scholarships?

Only new-to-St Margaret’s College students can apply for the senior scholarships (Year 11, 12 & 13). Senior scholarships are subject to availability in the school roll. Please note there are no Year 12 scholarships available in 2018 due to a full roll.

 

Who sits the scholarship exams?

All Year 7 and 9 scholarship applicants.

 

Do I still have to sit the scholarship exam if I am applying for a sport, performing arts or boarding scholarship?

Yes, results are taken into consideration.

 

What should I bring to the scholarship exam?

A blue or black pen for the test. Calculators are NOT permitted. It is recommended that you bring a water bottle and a snack for morning tea.

 

What do I wear to my interview or scholarship exam?

You may wear your current school’s uniform or tidy mufti.

 

Is there a fee to sit the scholarship exam?

No.

 

Am I able to see past exam papers?

Past scholarship exam scripts and results are not available.

 

Will my application be returned to me?

We will not be able to return your application to you. Please do not send originals – photo copies are acceptable.

 

What is the application process?

  • Complete and submit the application form with the necessary supporting documentation.
  • Write a letter to the Executive Principle, introducing yourself and explain why you would like to attend St Margaret’s College.
  • Those shortlisted will be contacted directly regarding the next stage.
  • If you are not successful in your application, you will be notified via email.

 

Please be aware, incomplete or late scholarship applications will not be accepted.
