Meet the Board



Chair: Di Humphries
 
Vice Chair: Cindy McEwan
Di and her husband Phil have one daughter Sophia, who has attended St Margaret’s since Year 8 after returning from Auckland back to their hometown.  
Di has 13 years of experience in CEO positions leading publicly-listed retail companies, as an Executive Director of these companies and over 26 years in Senior Executive positions specialising in retail, design and marketing.
Di was elected Chair of Trust Board in 2020 and brings a wealth of experience in commercial business management, strategy, and marketing.  She is also a member of the Finance Committee and the Board’s representative on the Parents and Friends Association.     

 

  Cindy graduated from Canterbury University with a First Class Honours degree in journalism and has spent the last 23 years in brand and advertising roles in London and Christchurch. Throughout her career, she has had a range of advertising agency and client-side marketing management positions across a spectrum of industries. Cindy currently owns and operates a strategic marketing consultancy, and is a Trustee on two not-for-profit boards.       

Cindy is married to Richard and has two daughters who both attend St Margaret’s. Cindy is a member of the Property Committee, the Board Representative on the St Margaret’s College Foundation, and is a Synod Representative on the Board for the Anglican Diocese.


    Vicki Green  
Kat McCorkindale
Vicki has two daughters who have attended St Margaret’s College as boarders and is the General Manager of her own retirement business. Vicki is one of life’s busy people who joins our team offering strong business aptitude and well-developed statutory compliance skills.       

Vicki joined the Board in 2016 and is the Boarding Representative.  She is also Chair of the Property Committee and a member of the Compliance Committee. 

 

  Kat’s career has centred in digital and marketing senior leadership roles with varied business management experience having established a number of companies in marketing, digital, retail and hospitality. An Old Girl of St Margaret’s College, Kat attended the school from 1999 to 2002. She graduated with a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Canterbury University in 2013 and is a member of the Institute of Directors.   Kat is the Board Representative on the St Margaret’s College Old Girls’ Association and is a member of the Finance Committee.


Andrea Wylie
 
Andrew Hawkes
Andrea is passionate about education and is delighted to have the opportunity to be part of the St Margaret’s governance team. She has had a varied career in education with teaching and leadership experience in a range of primary schools and more recently working with the Ministry of Education and school leaders to improve learning and teaching in schools.       

Andrea has also had considerable experience at Board level as a school trustee. She has a strong interest in future-focused education and would like to use the skills and experience she has gained in governance and education to give back to the school. She wants to play a part in helping ensure the ongoing future success and sustainability of St Margaret’s.

Andrea is married to Neil and they have three children, with their eldest Hannah attending St Margaret’s. She is the Chair of the Compliance Committee, a member of the Property Committees, and is a Synod Representative on the Board for the Anglican Diocese.

  Andrew is a Chartered Accountant and brings to the board his experience as a trusted adviser to private business, individuals, funders and stakeholders. Andrew is married to Sarah and they have three children Olivia (who attends St Margaret’s), Harry and Max. Weekends are spent on the sidelines at rugby, swimming and cricket or in the thick of the action coaching junior hockey.        

As a keen mountain biker, Andrew is passionate about the environment and spends time up in the mid-Canterbury high country.

Andrew joined the Board in 2019 and is the Chair of the Finance Committee, and a member of the Property Committee. 


       

Grant Edmundson

         

Randal Hanrahan

Grant is a partner of Helmore Stewart lawyers in Rangiora, leading the commercial and business law department. Having emigrated to New Zealand in 2011 and with a “love for all things North Canterbury”, he takes an active interest in the region sitting on the board of Compass FM, Mandeville Sports Club and Rangiora Promotions.       

 

With an eye for detail, a focus on pragmatic solutions and a passion for “out the box”, strategic thinking, he looks forward to contributing to the ongoing culture of excellence at St. Margaret’s.  Grant is a member of the Compliance Committee.

  Randal is an arable farmer from Ashburton, and along with Louise, has four children with the eldest currently a year 9 boarder at SMC. Randal has significant governance experience in education and is in his third term as a Trustee at Ashburton Borough, the majority as chair of the finance committee. He is also presently a director of several agriculturally based companies at both a local and national level.       

He believes that effective, adaptable and focussed governance and leadership will be essential to ensure the ongoing well-being and success, both financially and academically, of St Margaret’s and its wider community as a whole. Through his past governance experience, Randal possesses the balanced capabilities required to contribute to this success and to support and empower our Executive Principal.

As a recent recruit to the Trust Board, Randal looks forward to involvement in all aspects of the role, with a focus on the Finance and Property Committees
