A regular programme of careers awareness education runs in the Senior School through the LifeSkills Programme in Years 11-13. Year 10 students also have an introductory module in their Social Science classes. The Career Pathways Advisor provides girls with extensive advisory and information resources and arranges visiting speakers, careers events and trips to tertiary institutions and employers. She assists girls to explore their personality types, key strengths and values and produce high-quality CVs, applications for courses, scholarships, jobs and tertiary accommodation, helping set them up for life beyond SMC.
The Careers Advisor is happy to meet with parents and their daughters to discuss career options. Appointments may be made through your daughter or by ringing or emailing the Careers Advisor directly. Current relevant career-related articles and a wide range of career exploration events and opportunities are added frequently to the SMC Careers website and a careers newsletter is published weekly to all subscribers. All SMC students, parents, caregivers and staff are encouraged to subscribe.
