We celebrate 100 years of educating generations and the St Margaret's "Difference"

St Margaret’s College was founded in 1910 by the Anglican Diocese of Christchurch to provide a Christian based education with a boarding and day school for young women. Today the school has a roll of over 700 students and offers day and boarding education to girls from Year 1 to Year 13. Students attend from all over New Zealand and overseas.

Our teachers and support staff pride themselves on creating a special community environment where every girl is cared for and is able to develop academically, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

St Margaret’s is the only school in Christchurch to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. (Years12-13) Our girls are offered an opportunity to complete an internationally recognised and highly regarded qualification with a philosophy that fits closely with the holistic philosophy and vision of the school.

As our girls leave the school gates at the end of their time here they will be fully equipped to be global citizens and the providers for and of the next generation of New Zealanders.
