PFA

St. Margaret’s College Parents' and Friends' Association Inc.
President's Welcome
Bruce Street - PFA President
Welcome to you all from the St Margaret’s College PFA.
I feel very privileged to be the newly elected President of the Association, particularly as this year marks the Centenary of the College. This is my 11th year at St Margaret’s as a parent, with my daughter starting in Year One. I would also like to thank our retiring President, Peter Blacklaws, for his many years of hard work and dedication to the Association.
At an Extraordinary Meeting at the end of March the PTA unanimously voted to change its name to the “St Margaret’s College Parents’ and Friends’ Association”, or “PFA” for short. We believe the new name better reflects a wider St Margaret’s community, who wish to contribute to the wellbeing of the School.
We have an enthusiastic committee who organise our activities as well as a list of helpers who cannot make our regular meetings but help at our functions. Please feel free to email our Secretary and add your name to our helpers’ list or make suggestions for activities.
With our beautiful Centenary Celebrations of last year to reflect upon, we eagerly look froward to an exciting array of events in 2011. We warmly invite you to come and join us at our functions throughout this coming year.

What We Do
We provide support to our outstanding school in 2 ways. Firstly we foster positive interactions between parents and teachers through organizing social functions and events throughout the year as well as providing volunteers to help with school activities.
Secondly we donate items on the Executive Principal’s Wish List
Cocktail Function
Executive Principal’s Wish List
These are those extra “icing on the cake” items that improve the quality of the girls’ school life.
In 2010 the PFA supported the school in buying shelves for the Junior School, a vertec for the Sports Department, an electric piano for the Performing Arts Department, carafes for the cafeteria. It also paid for the cleaning of past principals’ paintings, flags and flagpoles for Winchester St entrance and will fund plantings for the new courtyard outside the cafeteria.
