academicTechnology Education at St Margaret’s College is carried out in state of the art facilities that are superb for the students to learn in. The building was opened in 1999 and was designed by Christchurch architects Warren and Mahoney. The facilities are accessed by all year levels.

 

The Technology faculty has developed a strategic plan that provides seamless technology education. This ensures that there is consistency with all aspects of the delivery of the curriculum. The knowledge learnt at the early years is scaffolded each year to develop deep learning in technology education for students. The students learn to work independently and use project management tools to plan for their practice. They also learn to work with stakeholders and gain feedback from them which they then apply to their own practice. Peer mentoring takes place across levels which enables the older students to guide the younger ones when challenged with a technology project.

 

The technologies that are explored at the various levels are: Materials, Bio-related, Food, Communications (Graphics and ICT), along with Creative Design processes.
