Wishing you all a Happy New Year and may 2012 be a better one for us all !
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all in the St Margaret's community and in Christchurch who have suffered further emotional and physical trauma with the recent earthquakes.

The College campus has thankfully not suffered any further significant damage and plans for new buildings are still on track. PLEASE NOTE FOR YOUR SAFETY......

Kia Ora, greetings and thank you for visiting our website at St Margaret's College.
Please come and visit us and feel the St Margaret's "difference". We are proud of our school and our girls and value our school family of past and present students and parents. At St Margaret's we place a strong emphasis on a holistic education. We work in partnership with our parents and families to offer our girls the very best academic and career opportunities but also to ensure their physical, emotional and spiritual development in a caring Christian environment. We hosted over 500 people at our Open Day and we are overwhelmed by the demand on places across all year levels for both Day and Boarding schools particularly in these uncertain times.
There is still some capacity for places in our Primary years programme in our recently rebranded Junior School and we welcome your visit to see the years 1- 8 classes in action at our upcoming year 1-8 Open Morning.
In these uncertain times parents are choosing our Junior School for the intimacy and genuine care as they want to be confident leaving their daughters in the emotionally and physically safe environment that St Margaret's is known for.
Message from the Executive Principal
December, 2011
Christmas greetings to you all.
It was wonderful to see so many of our families participating in the end of year Carol Services, Prizegiving ceremonies and the Graduation Ball – all successfully held in our multi-functional Chapel Marquee. External examinations are over and we await the results for NCEA and the International Baccalaureate.
You will have walked to the Marquee through a site that is becoming increasingly unrecognisable as new classrooms, laboratories, dance and drama rooms appear and old familiar buildings are taken down.
Over the holidays, the front two storey portion of the Science & Technology building will come down and have a reinforced steel front on the existing technology rooms which are still in use. The old Art block will also come down and art classes will take place in the same area adapted as an Art precinct. Kilburn House has been refurbished and repiled under the north east end ready for use at the end of January and the swimming pool and resurfaced tennis courts will be in use in January. Works to the Gymnasium / Chapel complex and the new Library / Classroom block are due to begin over the holidays. All classes and administration spaces are now accommodated in the popular new single storey buildings and girls and staff will have a settled uninterrupted year for teaching and learning in 2012. This will enable us to plan for the rest of the campus strengthening works redevelopment.
We are planning an Open Day for our own parents early next term so you can have a tour through our new facilities.
Have faith and hold on to hope - God bless St Margaretʼs –– kia kaha! Hoping for a Happy Christmas and a well earned holiday for you all.
